Every festival carries with it joy, togetherness, and lesson for the future. At Prakrriti Enterprises, we believe that celebrations should also carry a message of sustainability. This year, our Eco – friendly Ganapati idol Making workshop was not just clay and colors – it was about giving of daily wages workers a chance to learn, create, and celebrate in harmony with nature.
Many of these children rarely get the chance to be part of creative or cultural activities. For them, Ganesh Chaturthi is often limited to watching idols on the roadside or in pandals. Through this workshop, they not only got to participate but also understood the deeper meanings of celebrating Ganapati in an eco- conscious way.
As the children shaped the soft clay into Ganapati idol, their eyes sparkled with excitement. For some, it was their first time touching clay. One child said, “we always see Ganapati in the market, but this time I made my own Ganapati with my hands. When I do visarjan, I will feel proud.”
These simple words reflect how art can inspire ownership and connection with traditions while being kind to nature.
The kids were amazed to learn how Plaster of Paris idols harm rivers and aquatic life, while clay dissolves back into the soil without pollution. They promised that this year, their families would only welcome shadu mati (natural clay) Ganapati. One little by shared,
“Earlier I didn’t know that Ganapati idols can hurt fish. Now I will tell my friends to make Ganapati from clay.”
Moments like these prove that children are true ambassadors of change.
For children of daily wages workers, every small opportunity counts. Beyond the environmental message, the workshop boosted their confidence. They proudly displayed their idols, clicked pictures, and shared laughter. It was a reminder that celebration is not about money, but creativity, love and respect for nature.
The impact goes beyond the workshop. Each child carried home not just an idol, but also a story- a story of ecofriendly celebration, a story they would share with their families and communities. These young voices will inspire more families to shift towards eco- friendly tradition in the years to come.
At Prakrriti Enterprises, we are committed to making every celebration sustainable and inclusive. By engaging children of daily wages workers, we ensure that environmental education is not limited to classrooms, but reaches the grassroots where it matters the most.
